What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety through gentle touch or hands hovering above the body. The term comes from the Japanese words rei (universal) and ki (life force). When ki is flowing freely, the mind and body are in its most optimal and balanced state. Reiki healing unblocks stagnant energy and helps return the body into energetic balance. It is commonly used in many healthcare settings to complement other treatments.

Benefits of Reiki

Reiki promotes an overall sense of well-being by bringing the body into a meditative state that can promote natural healing. It creates a sense of peace and security. However, Reiki should not be used as a substitute for medical treatments. Reiki complements other types of treatments by enhancing the ability to respond to stress in the body.

What does a session look like?

At Alternative Options we offer sessions that are 30 mins or an hour depending on the client’s preference. During a session the client will lie down and relax as the practitioner hovers their hands palms down above the body in certain locations. The hands are a conduit to universal life force energy and flows to the person receiving.

The sensations experienced vary from person to person. Some experience heat, cold, tingling, pulsing, or no changes at all. Most people feel very relaxed and fall asleep.
